Initial Jobless Claims, which measures individuals filing for unemployment benefits for the first time, showed that there were 222,000 claims last week. The reading of 222,000 was 3,000 higher than last week’s figure and was 6,000 higher than estimates of 216,000. Last week’s figure was revised higher by 1,000 from 218,000 to 219,000. The level of firings remains very low as it's difficult for businesses to find workers.
